The short answer

A custom recruitment website in the UK typically costs £10,000 to £25,000 as a one-off project, plus around £150 a month for hosting and support. Templated recruitment platforms cost £500 to £3,000 upfront and £100 to £500 a month. DIY builders come in under £500.

At Addictivity, most custom builds land between £10,000 and £12,000. The price is fixed at a discovery session before any work starts, so the number you agree is the number you pay. All figures exclude VAT.

What moves the number

Six things that decide what you pay

01

Number of page layouts

Most recruitment sites need 20 to 40 distinct layouts. This is usually the single biggest factor.

02

CRM integration

A clean Bullhorn or JobAdder feed is straightforward. Legacy systems, custom fields and multi-CRM setups are not.

03

Copywriting scope

Whether you write the content or we do. Full copywriting across 30 pages is a meaningful chunk of any build.

04

Sector and location pages

Templated so they scale, but the template still has to be designed, built and populated once.

05

Brand work

If the brand needs rebuilding before the site can be designed, that is a separate piece of work.

06

Integrations beyond the CRM

Job aggregator feeds, assessment tools, payroll portals, client login areas. Each adds scope.

Frequently asked questions

A custom recruitment website from a specialist agency typically costs £10,000 to £25,000 in the UK as a one-off project. Templated recruitment platforms run £500 to £3,000 upfront plus £100 to £500 a month. DIY builders cost under £500. At Addictivity most custom builds land between £10,000 and £12,000, fixed at a discovery session before any work starts. All figures exclude VAT.

Because a recruitment website is two websites. It has to sell to hiring companies and serve candidates, which means two navigation paths, two content strategies and two conversion funnels. On top of that sits a live CRM integration pulling jobs in, JobPosting structured data for Google for Jobs, and rules for what happens when a role closes. A five-page brochure site has none of that.

Budget from £150 a month for hosting, security, updates and support on a custom build. Templated platforms bundle hosting into a licence fee of £100 to £500 a month, but you stop owning the site. Add domain renewal, any paid integrations, and a content or SEO retainer if you want the site to keep earning rather than just exist.

It depends on whether the site is a brochure or a revenue channel. If you need somewhere for candidates to find your jobs, a template is fine and the economics favour it. Once you want CRM integration on your terms, sector landing pages that rank, conversion tracking you control, and no platform licence for the life of the site, a custom build usually costs less over three years and performs better throughout.

Eight to twelve weeks for a custom build, from discovery through to launch. Templated platforms can go live in days. The variable is rarely the build itself, it is content: agencies that have their copy, photography and job data ready launch on time, and agencies that do not, do not.

Fixed. The price is set at a discovery session before the project starts, so you know the number before you commit. We do not quote a range and then bill against it. Discovery exists precisely so nobody is guessing at scope.

A DIY builder with a job board plugin, under £500 and a weekend of your time. It is a genuinely reasonable answer for a solo recruiter or a brand-new agency with no CRM and no marketing budget. The reason established agencies move off it is that it cannot integrate properly, cannot scale sector pages, and cannot be measured. Cheap is the right call until it starts costing you placements.

For anything above about £10,000, yes. Discovery is where scope, layouts, integrations and content responsibilities get pinned down, which is what makes a fixed price possible and honest. Skipping it is how projects end up with change requests, delays and a final invoice nobody expected.

Get a fixed number, not a range

We have built more than 350 recruitment websites since 1998, which means we can usually tell within one conversation which band you are in and whether a custom build is even the right answer for you.

If a template does the job, we will say so. If your existing site is closer to working than you think, we will say that too. Nobody benefits from selling you a build you did not need.
